Changing Lives One Mile at a Time

Cape Horn for Kids is not about a car rally—it is about changing lives one mile at a time. The lives it aims to change are those of children with special healthcare needs (and their families) right here in the Yakima Valley.

Every year, thousands find solace at Children’s Village. The specialized care that is provided there answers the prayers of so many concerned parents throughout our community. They are ordinary citizens who only want their children to have a chance to be like any other child their age—as well as the opportunity to enjoy a future ripe with limitless possibilities.

Bill Dolsen is keenly aware of this. It is why, when he learned of the Vintage Cape Horn Car Rally, he was immediately compelled to pursue it as an opportunity to raise money for the very programs that so profoundly impact the lives of local children and their families. Investing his time and resources, he created Cape Horn for Kids to help ensure that the future of children’s healthcare in Yakima remains secure.

“Supported by generous donations, Children’s Village exists to help children with developmental disorders and other challenging health conditions overcome their ailments so they can lead normal, healthy lives. It has always held a special place in my heart.” – Bill Dolsen

Last Friday, Bill officially begins his fundraising effort. For the next two and a half weeks, he will be driving nearly 4,000 miles in hopes of raising $25,000 for this cause. Much in the same vein as Dean Shirey’s Cancer Ride America, Bill will be riding in honor of individual children throughout the duration of his journey to change lives one mile at a time.
