One in three Washington adults has prediabetes. Prediabetes means that blood sugar is higher than normal and the risk for getting type 2 diabetes is high.
Did you know the chances of getting type 2 diabetes can be reduced? This fall, a new diabetes prevention program will be added to Memorial’s existing Diabetes Wellness Program which includes foot care, education, support groups and diabetes management.
With this evidence-based program, participants will learn how to change their lifestyle and improve their health. A site for this much needed program is being located….more news to come!
“This program is not a weight loss program, it is a lifestyle program. Going on a diet is not the treatment for diabetes or prediabetes, a lifestyle change is the treatment”, said a former program participant.
This program is made possible through a generous grant and will need continued support to be sustained.
