Kickin’ It With Kohl’s & Memorial…..The Memorial Foundation just received a $10,000 grant from the Kohl’s Cares Hospital Partnership Program!
The need for healthy eating, nutrition education, exercise and physical fitness is a growing national and local concern in order to reverse and prevent childhood obesity and increase overall fitness and health.
Memorial Hospital is partnering with the Yakima Youth Soccer Association to provide a children’s health education curriculum starting in September called Kickin’ It With Kohl’s & Memorial. The program will focus on injury prevention, nutrition, healthy eating habits, exercise, physical fitness, and positive developmental psychology to build self-esteem. Our objective is to educate Yakima youth ages 5-7 who participate in the Yakima Youth Soccer’s recreational league, their parents and their coaches. We will offer the program in English and Spanish.
Memorial Hospital provides many health outreach education programs in our community at little or no cost to participants, and a partnership with Kohl’s and the Yakima Youth Soccer Association provides a natural extension to offer health benefits. We are very grateful to Kohl’s, and excited for this unique partnership opportunity to help children in the Yakima Valley!
