Every team has its secret weapon. Memorial Foundation team member Barbara Sperry is a talented discoverer. She spied an opportunity from Starlight Children’s Foundation, Seattle, then immediately applied for and received 10 free Radio Flyer Pathfinder wagons for Memorial’s pediatric and Children’s Village patients.
Put to use in pediatrics, surgery, and radiology, the wagons are a hit. They feature seatbelts to keep the little passengers safe. Heidi Anderson, RT (R) reports, “The wagons are very helpful in transporting children from around the hospital to Radiology. It’s always fun to ride in a wagon. They’re just in their own little world and it takes their mind off their pain.”
Starlight’s mission is to help seriously ill children and their families cope with their pain, fear and isolation through entertainment, education and family activities.
