What Saved The Pregancy Loss Support Group?

A recent http://www.yakima-herald.com/stories/2012/03/13/pain-lives-on-for-mothers-of-stillborn-children>Yakima Herald-Republic article poignantly shared the story of the baby boy Jaime Lee lost nearly seven years ago; a pain that has eased with time, but will never go away. At the time, Jaime attended Memorial Hospital’s pregnancy loss support group.  Featured in the story, Memorial’s Resolve Through Sharing, a long standing program, was the first program funded by The Memorial Foundation over 20 years ago.  (Break)  This bereavement program is a comprehensive service for families experiencing miscarriage, ectopic, stillbirth and neonatal death. Unfortunately, without adequate funding, the support group for families experiencing pregnancy loss had been discontinued.  After Jaime’s touching story was told, Avail Home Health generously stepped forward and provided the funding needed to restart the support group.  Lisa Bartheld, a counselor and social worker in Memorial’s Maternal Health office will coordinate the group; she can be contacted at (509) 575-8160.
